RECENT UPDATES
Action Captures Championship Titles at NJ State Meet | May 17, 2009
Action’s Level 5 team competed in their state meet this past weekend in Sewell , NJ . Our phenomenal
seven-gymnast team brought home the fourth place team trophy, an All Around championship title and four
first place event championship titles!
Melissa Astarita earned the first place All Around medal (37.95) in the 9 JR age division, as well as first
place on bars (9.675) and second on vault (9.775).
Ally Cucich earned second place medals on vault (9.625), bars (9.65), beam (9.475) and All Around. She also
earned the sixth place medal on floor (9.35) in the 7-8 SR division.
Ava Caruso also competing in the 7-8 SR division earning the first place medal on bars (9.775), seventh place
on vault (9.5), ninth on beam (9.275) and sixth place All Around (37.6).
Andrea Fortanet rounded out the three Action team members for the 7-8 SR age division. She earned fifth place
on beam (9.45) and seventeenth in the All Around.
Tara Zeni brought home the first place medal on bars (9.6), third place on vault (9.55), fifth place on
beam (9.25), fourth place on floor (9.2) and second place in the All Around (37.6) in the 7-8 JR age division.
Haley Hawthorne also competed in the 7-8 JR age division and earned the first place medal on vault (9.625)
en route to her sixteenth place All Around finish (34.9).
Jessica Nussbaum earned the third place All Around medal (37.05) in the 11+ SR age division. She also
brought home the fourth place medal on vault (9.675) and the second place medal on beam (9.35).

Action Gymnasts Compete at Level 5 Sectionals | April 19, 2009
Action Gymnastics’ Level 5 team traveled to Gym Unlimited in Flemington NJ to compete at the Level 5 Sectionals.
Competing in the 7-8 year old division, Alexandra Cucich, Tara Zeni and Ava Caruso earned the top 3 medals
respectively. Andrea Fortanet and Haley Hawthorne brought home the 7th and 8th place All Around awards.
With a phenomenal 38.1 All Around, Alexandra brought home the 1st place medal in her age group. Ally earned 1st
place on both vault (9.475) and bars (9.65) and 2nd place on both beam (9.375) and floor (9.6).
Tara earned the 2nd place All Around medal with her outstanding 37.6. She placed 3rd on vault (9.425 tie), bars (9.5)
and beam (9.35 tie). She also earned the 4th place medal on floor (9.325).
Rounding out the top 3 spots was Ava with an impressive 37.375. She tied for 3rd on vault (9.275), placed 2nd on
bars (9.55) and 5th on both beam (9.1 tie) and floor (9.3).
Andrea tied for 3rd place with her pretty beam routine (9.35). Her 7th place (35.15) All Around consisted of a 12th
place tie on vault (8.3), 7th on both bars (8.35) and solid floor routine (9.15).
Haley’s 7th place finish on vault (8.75), 9th place on both beam (8.875) and floor (8.95) netted her the 8th place
All Around (34.075) award, bringing all 5 Action girls in the top 10 in the age group.
Melissa Asarita earned 1st place in the 9 year old division with her amazing 37.7 All Around finish. She also
earned 1st place on vault (9.5), bars (9.5) and floor (9.55). Melissa also came in 3rd on beam (9.15).
In the 11+ year old group, Jessica Nussbaum’s beautiful vault (9.325) landed her on the 1st place podium on the
event. She received 2nd place on bars (8.7, 3rd on beam (8.55), 2nd on both vault (9.1) and All Around (35.675).
All of our Level 5 team members qualified to compete in the NJ Level 5 State Championships May 16th & 17th.
2009 Level 8, 9 and 10 State Championships (March 28-29, 2009)
Action’s Level 8, 9 and 10 teams traveled to Edison , NJ this weekend to compete at the 2009 State
Championships. Under the tutelage of Coach Kris King, six of Action’s team members qualified to Regional
Championships, three earned spots on the New Jersey State Teams!
Roxanne Redwood, Devyn Summers and Holly Gaither represented our Level 8 team. Competing in the Sr A age division,
Roxanne’s explosive vault earned her 2nd place (9.3) on the event. She placed ninth on uneven bars (8.85) and
eleventh in the all around (35.375). Devyn competed in the Jr C division.. Her graceful balance beam routine
earned 10th place on the event (8.85). She accumulated an all around score of 34.35. With her polished lines and
impressive choreography, Holly earned 2nd place honors on both uneven bars (9.0) and floor (9.125). Her 35.175 all
around score placed her at 6th in the Sr C age division. Both Roxanne and Holly qualified for Regionals. They will
travel to Unique Gymnastics in Waldorf , Maryland the weekend of May 2, 2009. Holly will compete as a member of the
New Jersey team.
Kaitlyn Reszkowski, Louquasha Lett and Alana Morgan competed as our Level 9 team. Kaitlyn placed 5th All Around in
the Sr A division (35.975). Her near-flawless floor routine (9.55) and well-executed vault (9.175) earned her 2nd
place on both events. With the assistance of the Arena Gymnastics coaches, Valdi and Ann Kolasa and the support of
Arena’s Level 9 team, Louquasha and Alana scored 7th and 8th places respectively in the Jr B All-Around. Louquasha’s
powerful beam routine earned her 4th place honors on the event (8.85 as well as 5th on vault (9.075). Alana’s
energetic floor routine (9.175) helped her place top 10 on all events, including All Around (35.325). All three
Level 9 gymnasts will travel to Parkettes Gymnastics in Pennsylvania the weekend of April 18, 2009 to compete at
Regionals. Kaitlyn will be a member of the New Jersey team.
Meghan Cole and Courtney Boyle competed as our Level 10 gymnasts. Courtney’s explosive vault and elegant
floor routine (8.6) earned 9th place on both events; she received top 10 honors on all events including 8th place
All-Around in the Jr A age division. Meghan’s astonishing 9.3 vault (7th place), 9.075 beam (3rd place) and 9.25
floor routine (4th place) earned her 36.375 All-Around (5th place) in the Jr B age division. She secured a solid
spot on the New Jersey team for Level 10 Regional Championships. Meghan will be competing at World Class Gymnastics
in Newport News , VA the weekend of April 25, 2009.

Action Gymnasts Compete at Sand Dollar
Invitational | January 26, 2009
Placing second
and third in the Level 4 age group were Cassidy Small (37.200) and
Alexis Rogers (36.975). Kylie Caputo placed second all around in the
Child B age division with a 37.650.
In the level 5 competition, Tara
Zeni won the Child A age division (36.675) while Ava Caruso
(36.300), Ally Cucich (36.275), and Melissa Astarita (36.250) placed
third, fourth, and fifth, respectively.
Level 7 gymnasts Jenna Pinheiro
(37.975), Monica Servidio (37.350), and Megan Hughes (36.350) placed
1st, 2nd, and 4th, respectively, in the Child A age division.
Action placed second in the level 4 team
competition and third in the level 5 team competition.
